Goldie M. (Burgess) Berg

Goldie Marie (Burgess) "Granny" Berg, age 91, of Maysville, WV passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at E.A. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV.

Goldie was born on January 12, 1931 in Falls, WV and was a daughter of the late Charles Roosevelt Burgess and Ethel Christine (Mongold) Burgess.

In addition to her parents, Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Bus” Berg; two daughters, Gloria Jean Evans and Shelly Lee Stump; one son, David Wayne Berg; great granddaughter, Megan Grace Turner; one infant great grandson, Joseph Kohl Stumbo; two brothers, Ronald Burgess and an infant brother and three sisters, E. Frances Hinton and two infant sisters.

Goldie is survived by one son, Donnie Berg and wife Teresa of Moorefield, WV; one daughter, Marion Delawder of Maysville, WV; ten grandchildren including two that Goldie raised after the passing of their mother, Jesse (Tiffany) Stump and Samantha (Timothy) Shockey; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Cloer of North Carolina and Judy Kimble of Lahmansville, WV; one brother, Donald Burgess of Maysville, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Goldie was a homemaker who loved her family. She had a sense of humor and enjoyed chatting with family and friends. She opened her home to those in need.  Goldie enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved her animals.  She was a Christian by faith and was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church.  She worked for the Grant County Commission on Aging and was a dishwasher at the American Legion for several years.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 -12 Noon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will  begin at 12 Noon in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Vivan Watts officiating.

Burial will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
