Gerald W. Kesner, Sr.

Gerald Wayne Kesner, Sr., age 73 of Maysville, WV went to his Heavenly Home on Monday July 3, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Gerald was born on March 16, 1950 in Maysville, WV and was a son of the late Goldie Arbutus (Whetzel) Kesner. In addition to his mother, Gerald is preceded in death by four brothers, Delmer Leroy Kesner, Charles Thurman Kesner, Lyle Richard Kesner and Roger Pancake. 

Gerald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda (Zirk) Kesner; one son, Gerald Wayne “G. W.” Kesner, Jr., of Milam, WV; three grandchildren, Cole Kesner, Reece Kesner and Jaya Kesner; one sister, Evelyn Franz of Maysville, WV; two brothers, Elwood Kesner (Faye) of Rig, WV, Curtis Kesner (Linda) of Rig, WV; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald attended Moorefield High School. He worked in construction and was a poultry farmer, raised cattle and was owner of Rig Mart. Gerald was an avid hunter, fisherman and his passion was his American Muscle Cars. Gerald was a member of Mountain State Classic Car Club and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. 

Family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg from 11 a.m. till time of service.  Funeral service will begin at 12 Noon with Bishop Rob Borror and Pastor Gary Crislip officiating. 

Interment will be in the Davis Cemetery, Milam, WV 

The family suggest that memorial donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or take a child fishing.
