Gary "Shep" Pennington

Gary William "Shep" Pennington, age 61, of Petersburg, WV passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.
He was born September 4, 1952 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Ronald William Pennington and Thelma Catherine Alt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by half brother, Ronnie VanMeter.
He was master mechanic for V.R. Mowry Inc. in Petersburg for 46 years and Petersburg Oil Company over 20 years. He attended Living Hope Baptist Church in Petersburg. He was a member of (A.B.C.) American Bowling Congress and was President of the Tri-County Bowling Association. He also was a member of West Virginia Theater East, Mountain State Car Club and Raw Country Band.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Darlene (Bible) Pennington; one son, David Pennington and wife, Tonya of Maysville, WV and grandchildren, Dakota, Kinsley and Pacee and great grandson, Gage; one daughter, Kari Mullenax Fitzwater and husband, Jay of Petersburg and grandchildren, Joselyn Raines and Jackson Berg; one brother, Donald Pennington of Upper Tract, WV and two half sisters, Rhonda Barger of Maysville, WV and Loretta Alt of Petersburg, WV.

Family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Mark McAllister and Evangelist Travis Hansrote officiating. Interment will follow in the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, WV.
