Gary Stanley Harman, age 75 of Upper Tract, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV after a long illness.
Gary was born on July 15, 1948 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Stanley Isaac Harman and Violet Blanche (Kesner) Harman. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his son, Edward Brian Harman, one sister, Patsy Darlene Harman Casto, his father-in-law, C. W. “Bud” Harman and mother-in-law, Lillian Lorraine Mullenax Harman.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Ramona Ann Harman whom he married on December 28, 1972. Also surviving one daughter, Kerri Adele Harman (Jaime Loudermilk and son Jarred), daughter-in-law, Shannon Hart Harman, four grandchildren, Kayla Elizabeth Harman, Johnna Lilly Harman, Briley Edan Harman and Brice Edward Harman; one sister, Judith Lynn Harman Patch (Tom), brother-in-law, Marlin Casto and in-laws, Warren Lee Harman, Delmer Harman (Sherry), Nina “Pet” Simmons, Judy Sherman (Gerald), Dolores Harman, Alvin Harman (Gretta) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gary was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1970, where he received the National Defense Service Medal for his expertise. He retired from General Motors in 2001 where he had been employed since 1967. His retirement led him back to his beloved home state. Gary was always quick to give a big hug and lend an ear to friends and strangers alike.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 6-9 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2 PM at Mt Horeb United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Webb and Pastor Rita Beeman officiating. Interment will be in Kline Cemetery with Military Honors by Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and United States Army Honor Guard.
Gary's family suggests that Memorials may be made to the National MS Society or American Cancer Society or Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.
