Garry Gene Crites, age 76, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his home.
He was born March 9, 1941 in Rig, WV and was a son of the late Clinton Conway Crites and Wilda Mae (Wratchford) Crites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl E. Crites, Darl "Ted" Crites and Larry W. Crites; one sister, Ollie "Toodle" Mongold.
Garry served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Clark Construction where he was superintendent and helped build FedEx Field, M&T Bank Stadium and other high rise office buildings in Washington, D.C. area. Later he worked for the City of Petersburg.
Mr. Crites is survived by two daughters, Terri (Brad) Taylor of Petersburg, WV and Tammy (Craig) Crites of Fisher, WV and one son, Bradley G. Crites of Rig, WV; three grandchildren, Adam and Alicia Crites of Baker, WV, Aaron and Becca Crites of Fisher, WV and Emily and Jake Phillips of Queenstown, MD and four great grandchildren, Brantley, Tatum, Allie and Macie Crites; two sisters, Linda S. Sherman of Rig, WV and Lucille Shupe of Moorefield, WV; four brothers, Curtis Crites of Rig, WV, Kenneth "Sonny" Crites, Junior Crites and Virgil L. Crites all of Petersburg, WV.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Taylor officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454.
An inurnment will be private in the Crites-Eye Cemetery, Rig, WV
