Evers T. Ours Jr.

 Evers Theodore Ours Jr. age 89, of Dorcas, WV, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at his home. Junior was born on August 29, 1935 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Evers T. Ours Sr. and Janie Elizabeth (Nelson) Ours.

In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by one brother, C. Wayne Ours, one sister, Bonnie Lou Moyers and brother-in-law, Ronald P. Berg.

Junior is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley J. (Armentrout) Ours, one son, Scotty Lee Ours and wife Martha of Petersburg, WV; grandson Jeremiah Ours; granddaughter Holly Beth Lyon and husband Michael; two great grandsons, Ethan Lyon and Isaac Lyon; two sisters Leda Kite and husband Jack of Moorefield, WV and J. Darlene Berg of Maysville, WV; brother-in-law, Alfred Moyers and  sister-in-law, Bonnie Ann Ours, both of Dorcas, WV and several nieces and nephews.

 Junior attended Petersburg High School and served in the United States Army for three years. He was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. After he returned home from the service, Junior was a carpenter with his father and later continued the carpentry business.

Junior was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with others. He was a charter member of the Dorcas Ruritan Club and a faithful member of the Brake Covenant Brethren Church. He was a family man and will be greatly missed by family and friends.  

 Junior’s family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 6-8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.

 Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Howard and Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating.   

 Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery in Lahmansville, WV with military honors by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and West Virginia Army Honor Guard. 

 In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Promise Foundation, c/o Grant Memorial Hospice, 100 Hospital Drive, Petersburg, WV or the Samaritans Purse or Gideons International.
