Ernest "Ernie" E. Swick

 Ernest Edward Swick, age 70 of Cabins, WV, known affectionately to friends and family as Ernie, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at his home. 

Ernie was born on May 14, 1954 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Joe Delmar Swick and Myrtle Virginia (Swick) Swick.  In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Ann (Ours) Swick on August 2023, one granddaughter Cheyanne  Hughes; three brothers, Roger Allan Swick, Larry Swick and Billy Swick and two sisters Patricia (Swick) Chapman and Annabell (Swick) Hesse.

 Ernie is survived by his son Jeremy Swick of Moorefield, WV; his daughter Melissa Hughes of Greenville, SC; three sisters Winnie Hitt (Johnny) of Petersburg, WV, Rosetta Swick of Cabins, WV and Twila Swick of Petersburg, WV; four brothers Mike Swick (Lisa) of Petersburg, WV, Joe Swick Jr. (Nancy) of Petersburg, WV, Kenneth Swick (Barbara) of Lahmansville, WV and Randy Swick (Dolly) of Burlington, WV.  Also surviving several nieces and nephews.

Ernie attended Petersburg High School. Ernie established a long and respected career as a truck driver and drove for various companies including Petersburg Oil Company.

Ernie found solace and joy in the great outdoors. An avid hunter, he spent many a dawn in the serenity of nature. His love for hunting was more than a hobby; it was a way of connecting with the world around him and a tradition he cherished, sharing with friends and family.

 In Honoring Ernie’s wishes, his body will be cremated.  A Celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
