Emory Luther Ayers

Emory Luther Ayers, age 74 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

Emory was born on February 3, 1949 in Cumberland, MD and was a son of the late Glenn Emory Ayers and Hattie Frances (Borror) Ayers.

In addition to his parents, Emory was preceded in death by four brothers, William Ayers,  James Ayers, Ray Borror and Ernest Kile.

Emory is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vicki L. (Crites) Ayers; one daughter, Mindi Dawn Whetzel (Kevin) of Old Fields, WV; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Ayers (Eleanor) of Rivesville, WV; several nieces and nephews.

Emory was a United States Army Veteran of Viet Nam War.  He was a truck driver for Mullenax Transport and RCS Transport LLC for several years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially bay fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking.
