Emma J. (Evans) Harris

 Emma Jean (Evans) Harris, age 74 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at E. A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV.

 Emma was born on April 26, 1951 in Emoryville, WV and was a daughter of the late Leslie Carl Evans and Hulda Jane (Stark) Evans. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew J. Harris; two brothers, Paul Evans and Carl Evans and two sisters, Mildred Evans and Dorothy Bolyard.

 Emma is survived by her son, Dwight D. Harris and wife Kimberley of Moorefield, WV; longtime companion, Jeffrey Carr; three step grandchildren, Justin Hawley, Steven Hawley and Tiffany Champ Fout; nine step great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Evans of Baltimore, MD and two brothers, Ronald Evans of Southerland, VA and Roy Evans of Jefferson, NC and several nieces and nephews.

 Emma was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning . Emma loved to crochet. She attended Potomac Valley Baptist Church in Maysville, WV.

 Emma’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 12 noon till 1 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
