Ellen "June" B. (Fitzwater) Ardinger

Ellen Beatrice “June” (Fitzwater) Ardinger, age 85 of Moorefield, WV passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV.

June was born on June 1,1940 in Fort Run, WV and was the daughter of the late Jonathan Ray Fitzwater, Sr. and Leona Beatrice (Cain) Fitzwater.  In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Franklin Ardinger; her sister, Trevia E. Fitzwater and Aunt, Mildred E. (Cain) Shockey.

June is survived by three children: Daughter, Tina M. (Ardinger) Todd, significant other Billy Joe Keplinger of Moorefield, WV, Daughter, Sherry L. (Ardinger) Lee of Fayetteville, NC, Son, Terry L. Ardinger, Wife Anna of Casa Grande, AZ.  Brother Jonathan Ray Fitzwater, Jr; Ten Grandchildren Barbara L. (Urciolo) Tew, Michael J. Urciolo, Emberley Jean M. Hewitt, Teresa L. (Ardinger) McWhirter, husband Shannon, Brian J., Robert J., Bridger W., Anon H. Ardinger, and Beckham Burris.  Daniel S. Todd, Jr. wife Elizabeth; Twelve great-grandchildren: Alexis M. Sherill and Nathan K. Urciolo, Julius K., Katelynn A., Madalynn G., Skylynn R., and Leilynn Z. Urciolo, Camden and Blake Ardinger, Masyn and Tristyn Ardinger and Bennett D. Todd; One Great Great-grandchild, Brielle Harmony Sherill. 

June was a 1959 graduate of Moorefield High School. After graduating, June met the love of her life and moved to Cumberland, MD. Just a few short years later she moved to Bladensburg, MD where she resided until moving back to Moorefield, WV.  During that time, she worked in retail for Montgomery Wards until their closing in 2001. She then went to work for K-Mart until her retirement in 2006.  When she retired, she moved back to Moorefield to care for her mother and began working for Food Lion where she worked for 10 years before retiring the 2nd time.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 20, 2025  from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Graveside service and interment will be held at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield with Pastor Dan Sterns.
