Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Kuykendall, age 69, of Petersburg, WV, formerly of Woodbridge, VA, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at her home in Petersburg.
Born in Arlington, VA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nellie.
Liz is survived by her loving husband Danny W. Kuykendall, Jr. of 49 years - just a few months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Also surviving is her daughter, Lucretia Kumah and her son, Daniel W. Kuykendall, III and their spouses Eric Kumah Jr. and Courtney Kuykendall. She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren Eric Kumah III, Marcus Kumah, Alyssa Kumah, Daniel W. Kuykendall IV, and Hunter Kuykendall; as well as three great-grandsons: Eric IV, Jayce, and Kaisen Kumah, all of Fredericksburg, VA.
She is also survived by her three brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
Liz’s favorite title in life was “Mom”. In addition to her own children, she played the “Mom” role to all their friends and every child in her daycare. Liz and Danny’s home was always open - welcoming friends and family to gather, share meals, and stay as long as they needed a place to call home. She especially enjoyed birthdays and holidays because that was time spent with loved ones.
Her family was her world! She was always there for them, willing to do anything for those she loved. We will all miss her dearly.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Danny for his selfless and compassionate care, which allowed Liz to remain at home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Liz’s family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
