Elizabeth (Parsons) Vance

    Rose Elizabeth (Parsons) Vance, age 101 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Grant Memorial Hospital.

   Elizabeth was born on February 14, 1921 at Dorcas, WV and was a daughter of the late Albert Franklin Parsons and Mary Susan (Reel) Parsons.

    In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther Vance; one daughter, Elaine Elizabeth Vance and two sons, Robert J. “Bobby” Vance and infant Darl Vance; one sister, Suella Crites; five brothers, Richard Parsons, Alvin Parsons, Don Roscoe Parsons, Eston Parsons and Harry Parsons.

  Elizabeth is survived by one daughter, Marietta Vance Smalling of Petersburg, WV; two grandsons, R. J. Vance II (Kristen) and William G. “Bill” Vance all of Petersburg, WV; four great grandchildren, Haley Vance Shobe,(Josh); Katrina Vance, Austin Vance and Jamie Vance; four great-great grandchildren, Zoey Bergeron, Riley Bergeron and Brayden Bergeron and Isaac Shobe; and several nieces and nephews.

 Elizabeth’s passion was her family. Holidays and birthdays were a special time at her home.  She will be remembered for all the cooking, baking and gardening.  Elizabeth was known as Grandma to many in the community. Everyone was welcome at her home. 

 Elizabeth retired from Windsor Knit Sewing Factory and attended the Riverside Church in Cabins, WV.

 Elizabeth’s family will receive friends Saturday from 11 AM – 2 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Funeral service will begin at 2 PM. 

Burial will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
