Edna C. (Mongold) Alt

Edna Clara (Mongold) Alt, age 81 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Wednesday,

February 5, 2025 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.

Edna was born on January 12, 1944 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Dyer Lough Mongold and Myrtle Mary (Hall) Mongold. 

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Lee Alt Sr. in 2010; two brothers, Larry Dyer Mongold and James Edward Mongold and one sister, Mary Ann (Mongold) Black and sister-in-law, Kay Mongold.

Edna is survived by one son, Denver L. Alt II of Petersburg, WV; one daughter, Denise R. Alt of Petersburg, WV; two granddaughters, Natasha Alt Redman and Josie VanMeter; one brother, Roger W. Mongold of Petersburg, WV; brother-in-law, Norman W. Black of Seneca Rocks, WV and sister-in-law, Doris Mongold of Arthur, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Edna was a 1961 graduate of Petersburg High School.  After graduation Edna worked in Washington, DC for a short time and later was employed at the Grant County Court House in the Clerk's office for 47 years. She was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church.

Edna’s family would like to thank the Grant Rehabilitation Center and Staff for their excellent care. 

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Perrine officiating. Interment will follow in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
