Douglas A. Nicol

Douglas Andrew “Doug” Nicol, age 66, of Maysville, WV passed away on Friday at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

He was born May 28, 1954 in Scherr, WV and was a son of the late Paul Edwin Nicol and Carol Onile (Hawk) Nicol.  In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Robert “Butch” Michael.

Doug is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen S. (Brogan) Nicol, one son, Jay A. (Sherry) Nicol of Maysville, WV; two daughters, Mendi K. Nicol of Maysville, WV and Shana D. (Lester Wilson) Nicol of Maysville, WV; four grandchildren, Tyler Carr and fiancé Catlin Strickler, Sadie Carr and fiancé Duane Vetter;

 Isaiah Nicol and Joshua Nicol; two great grandchildren, Braxton Vetter and Raelynn Carr; sister-in-law, Diane Michael of Maysville, WV.

Doug was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1973. He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.   He was a welder at VEPCO for 39 years.  He enjoyed doing woodwork and was an avid hunter. 

He was a faithful member of Maysville Bible Brethren Church. 

Private graveside services were held at the Maysville Cemetery with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating.
