Douglas Wayne Borror, age 81, of Petersburg, WV went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia.
Doug was born on April 12, 1943 in Landes, WV and was a son of the late Arthur William “Taft” Borror and Minnie Rosetta (George) Borror.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by five sisters, Hilda Borror Kesner, Phyllis Borror Shook, Ruth Borror Keplinger, Wanda Borror Ellis and Patsy Borror Parker; six brothers, Dorris “Bunt” Borror, Roland Borror, Bruce Borror, Leo Borror, and infants Roger and James Borror.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda (Hedrick) Borror. Together they raised two sons, Douglas W. Borror II of Petersburg, WV and Matthew K. Borror and wife Stacy of Kingwood, WV; Three grandchildren, Marty Borror, Luke Borror and Jacob Borror; one sister, Shirley (Roger) Cook of Maysville, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug was a 1961 graduate of Petersburg High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and creativity. He carried these values throughout his career, retiring from the Potomac Edison Company. Doug was a member of Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church and the Landes Ruritan Club. He was a former member of Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company. He was a coach for Petersburg Little League baseball, football and basketball. Doug was a 4-H volunteer and a West Virginia 4-H All-Star. He also volunteered at the Living Waters Food Pantry and the Tri-County Fair.
Doug’s love for the outdoors was no secret. He was an avid hunter, a passion that allowed him to immerse himself in the beauty of nature. Doug was creative in his endeavors and thoughtful in his interactions which left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 5 – 8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral service will be Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 1 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor David Webb.
Interment will be in the Old Stable Cemetery, Landes, WV
Memorials may be made to Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church or Living Waters Food Pantry.
