Doris Jean (Harman) Parsons, age 86 of Petersburg, WV passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Grant Memorial Hospital.
Doris was born on April 3, 1936 in Rough Run, WV and was a daughter of the late Curtis T. Harman and Violet L. (Kimble) Harman.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Lynn Parsons in 1967; an infant grandson; Benjamin Franklin Berg II; an infant great grandson, Caleb Lee Goldizen; one brother, Richard Harman; two sons-in-law- Benjamin F. Berg and Eugene A. Cook.
Doris is survived by her husband of 69 years, Paul D. Parsons, one son, Randy (Melina) Parsons of Petersburg; three daughters, Karen Berg Cook of Maysville and Beverly (Jim) Tompkins of Petersburg and Paula (Todd) Smith of Fairfield, VA; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Tim) Goldizen and Dakota Parsons; four step grandchildren, Anna Tompkins, Kenny Tompkins, Curtis Tompkins and Katie Smith Cox; three great grandchildren, Felicia Goldizen, Joshua Goldizen and Mikayla Goldizen; two step great-grandchildren, Lucy Garcia and Sunny Tompkins; two sisters, Donna Fae Snyder of Martinsburg, WV and JoAnn Simmons of Petersburg, one brother, Curtis J. Harman of Petersburg and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was a cook at several restaurants in Petersburg, namely Tip Top, Brill’s Restaurant and Monarch Mills Deli for several years. She assisted in helping with the family owned Appliance business, Parsons Repair Shop. Her passion was cooking, baking, gardening and caring for her family. Her family would always say that no one ever left her home hungry.
She was a member of Hedrick Chapel United Methodist Church at Rough Run, WV.
Family will receive friends Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 3 – 6 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 1 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hakes officiating. Interment will be in Kline Cemetery, Kline, WV.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hedrick Chapel United Methodist Church.
