Donald E. Shaffer

 Donald Earl “Donnie” Shaffer, age 69 of Petersburg, WV passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.

 Donnie was born on August 25, 1952 in Morgantown, WV and was a son of the late Earl David Shaffer and Lovie Pearl (Cottrell) Shaffer.

 In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Shaffer and Richard Shaffer; one sister, Jean Shaffer Brown; Father and Mother-In-Law, Ernest “Satchel” and Helen George.

 Donnie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Sue (George) Shaffer; one brother, George W. (Judy) Shaffer of Reedsville, WV; one sister, Lendia Peaslee of Masontown, WV; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Joann Goldizen of Maysville, WV; two special nephews, Scott Southerly of Prairie Grove, AR and Steve Southerly of Petersburg, WV; several nieces and nephews and his buddy, Bubba. 

 Donnie was a graduate of Masontown Valley High School class of 1970.  He retired from Pilgrims Pride in Moorefield, WV.  Donnie was an avid hunter and fisherman and his favorite teams were the Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia Mountaineers.

Family will receive friends on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 5 – 8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hakes and George Shaffer. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
