Donald C. George

 Donald Clay George, age 91 of Petersburg, WV went to be with the Lord and his family on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.

 Donald was born on November 19, 1932 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Pearl Eston and Ella Katherine Kuydendall) George. In addition to his parents Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Jean (Barr) George in 2008; one sister, Evelyn Self; seven brothers, James George, Sr., Ernest “Satchel” George, Harold George Sr., Clifton “Joe” George, Junior Eston George, Merlin “Midge” George and Otha “Oce” George; special sister-in-law, Mabel George. 

  Donald is survived by one daughter, Leigh R. “Wink” Dixon of Keyser, WV; two grandchildren, Amanda Haddix (Bo) and Joshua Getz; special grandpuppy, Pepper and several nieces and nephews.

Donald worked at the Petersburg Tannery and later worked in construction and helped on farms.  Donald attended Petersburg First Baptist Church.  

 The Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 12 Noon in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg with Pastors Harold and Cheryl George officiating. 

 Family will receive friends from 10 AM till time of service at 12.

The burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Petersburg Interfaith Food Pantry.
