Donald R. Cook

 Donald Roscoe “Whitt” Cook, age 85 of Maysville, WV passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at his home in Maysville.

Donald was born on December 10, 1939 in Jordan Run, WV and was a son of the late Roscoe Q. Cook and Iona Mae (Rohrbaugh) Cook.  In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife Nancy E. (Cornell) Cook on March 1, 1993; two brothers, Kenneth Leon Cook and Eugene Allen Cook.

Donald is survived by his son, David Donald Cook; three brothers, Richard W. Cook and wife, Nancy; Carroll B. Cook and wife Donna; Darvin J. Cook and wife Phyllis and sister, Sharon C. Feaster and husband Bradley all of Maysville, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald attended Petersburg High School and started working on the family farm. In 1964 Donald went to work in Washington, D C as a carpenter. After suffering an injury in 1970, Donald returned home to work on his own farm. In 1985 Donald also worked for Rockingham Poultry and built a layer house. In the meantime, he built two greenhouses and managed those with his sister Sharon for 7 years. In 2017 Donald finally retired from the Poultry house, but continued farming which he loved till his death. He was a member of Grant County Farm Bureau for over 30 years.

Donald was a member of the Maysville Bible Brethren Church and attended the Brick Covenant Brethren Church. He also was a member of the Maysville Cemetery Board.

Donald’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Cosner officiating.

Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.
