Don I. Pyle

Don Irwin Pyle, age 80, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Don was born on July 31, 1943 in Wheeling, West Virginia and was a son of the late Calvin Wayne Pyle and Dorothy Angaline (Ashbaugh) Pyle. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. 

Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria J. (Mozingo) Pyle; one daughter, Jill Kivett of Stephens City, VA; one son, Don R. Pyle (Tammey) of Maysville, WV; five grandchildren; Mikayla Pyle, Kylie Brown, Kara Pyle, McKenna Kivett and Casey Brown; two great grandchildren, Paisley McCormick and Dimitri Pyle; one brother, Joseph W. Pyle of Huntington, WV and one sister, Anna Mae Norden of Hilliard, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was a 1961 graduate of Bethany High School in Bethany, West Virginia.  He attended West Liberty College. Don was a West Virginia State Trooper for twenty years before retiring in 1988. After retirement Don was a Safety Supervisor for the West Virginia Department of Highways.  He also was a referee for WVSSAC for several years. Don was an avid hunter and he enjoyed fishing at his second home with his grandchildren at Lake Anna in Virginia. 

Funeral service will be Friday, February 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating.  Don’s family will receive friends from 11 AM till time of service.

Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
