Dessie "Dee" W. (Borror) Westfall

Dessie Wayne (Borror) “Dee” Westfall, age 72 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dessie was born on July 15, 1951 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Ronald Lester Borror and Margie Alice (Nazelrodt) Borror. In addition to her parents, Dessie was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald L. Borror, Jr. and an infant brother, Lester Earl Borror; an infant sister, Mila Sue Borror.

Dessie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lonnie Wayne Westfall; two daughters, Brenda Ghalib (Mohammad  “Mo”) of Stuarts Draft, VA and Kathy Fortney (Larry “Joe”) of Belington, WV; four grandchildren, Michael Wratchford (Cynthia), Anika Wratchford, Jalen Fortney and Zahir Ghalib; four great grandchildren, Johnathan Clemons, Juliana Wratchford, Jazilyn Wratchford and Ibrahim Bani-Hani;  four sisters:  Mary Grapes Franklin, WV, Edna Hanlin of Burlington, Shirley Anderson of Franklin, WV and Barbara Berg of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Dessie’s journey in life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family and community. Dessie’s career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Grant County Nursing Home was marked by compassion and excellence. She retired after many years of selfless work.  At home, Dessie’s life was equally rich and fulfilling. Her husband Lonnie, who is a retired truck driver, Dessie would often accompany Lonnie on his travels. These trips were among her cherished memories. Her cooking brought family and friends together, especially during holidays and special occasions. 

Dessie’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 12 Noon till l PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will begin at 1 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Shannon Earle officiating. Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery.
