Delores M. (Porter) Secrist

Delores “Tinkle” Marie Secrist, age 89, of Lahmansville, WV passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Augusta, WV.

She was born on September 9, 1932 in Medley, WV   and was a daughter of the late Harry Washington Porter and Carrie Virginia (Hutton) Porter.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Dale E. Secrist Sr. in 2020; six sisters, Dorothy Coleman, Shirley “Libby” Lahman, Lorena Porter, Clara Mae Davis, Anna Virginia Dettinburn and infant Betty Lee Porter; four brothers, Marshall Porter, Woodrow Porter, Letcher McNeil Porter and Harry Porter, Jr. Delores was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Delores is survived by one daughter, Rev. Deborah L. Shreve and husband Donald of Augusta, WV; one son, Dale E. Secrist, Jr and wife Susan of Lahmansville, WV; five grandchildren, Derek Shreve, Johna Secrist, Dena Lowe, Aaron Secrist and Danette Richman; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Delores was a graduate of Petersburg High School class of 1951.  She was a cook at the Forman Grade School and retired from Petersburg Elementary School.  She was a member of Lahmansville United Methodist Church. Delores also was a member of the Grant County Association of  Retired School Employees and Lahmansville CEOS Club.

Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in  Petersburg.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 11 AM at Lahmansville United  Methodist Church with Pastor Brenda Shreve officiating.  Interment will be in the  Lahmansville Cemetery.
