Delmes Goldizen Obituary

Delmes Marvin Goldizen entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at his Jordan Run home surrounded by his children, Beverly (Chuck) Scott, and JR (Sherry) Goldizen and Michelle (Richie) Sites.

Along with his children, his pride and joy were his grandchildren, Vanessa Harlow, Megan DiBenedetto, Lysle Sites, Whitney Scott, Trey Goldizen and Nikki Chandler and great-grandchildren, Karlie, Carson, Lillian, Aelah, Holden, Eliza, Klaire and Tristan.

Also surviving are his wife, Arlene Goldizen, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Born on November 30, 1934 to Edward and Dorothy (Sherman) Goldizen and brother to Paul Goldizen, Charles Goldizen, Osa Goldizen, Annie Evans and Wanda Nesselrodt, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Delmas was a 1953 graduate of Petersburg High School where football teammates called him “Ding” and that nickname remained with him throughout his life. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, Delmes worked for Exxon and then decided to enroll at West Virginia University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. After graduating from WVU, he was employed by the federal government as a District Loan Specialist with the Farmers Home Administration.  Upon retirement, he accepted a position with Pen Tree Engineering and worked in the Martinsburg area as an inspector for several waterline construction projects.

Delmes loved to hunt and fish with his best buddy and son, JR, along with several other family members and friends.  He spent Sunday afternoon watching football and cheering on his alma mater West Virginia University.

Delmes was a member of the Jordan Run Union Church where he remembers walking to church as a child and as an adult taught Sunday School.
