David D. Moreland

 David Dwayne “Davy” Moreland, age 53 of Scherr, WV passed away on Thursday, June 1,  2023 as the result of a logging accident.

Davy was born on June 28, 1969 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Virgil Edwin Moreland Sr. and Shirley Frances (Love) Moreland.  In addition to his parents, Davy was preceded in death by his Mother-In-Law, Geraldine (Meadows) Berg.

Davy is survived by his wife Connie S. (Berg) Moreland; twin sons, Justin Virgil Moreland of Scherr, WV and Chad Steven Moreland (Heavenly) of Scherr, WV; one daughter, Cassandra Moreland of Keyser, WV; five grandchildren, Paisley Moreland, Grayson Moreland, Hensley Moreland, Madeline Moreland and Sophia Broadwater; Two sisters, Carolyn A. Cosner (Russell) of McKinney, TX, and Brenda K. See of Scherr, WV; three brothers, Allen C. Moreland (Betty) of Scherr, WV, Virgil E. Moreland II of Mt. Storm, WV and Robert “Jake” Moreland (Amanda) of Maysville, WV; father-in-law, Steve Berg of Petersburg, WV several nieces and nephews.

Davy was a 1988 graduate of Petersburg High School.  Davy worked with his family business Moreland Pulpwood, LTD and later Mountaineer Grading as a mechanic.  More recently Davy worked for MC Logging of Maysville, WV.  Davy enjoyed hunting and fishing but spending time with his grandchildren was his passion. Family will receive friends at Cornerstone Family Fellowship on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 12 Noon till 2 PM.  A funeral service will begin at 2 PM with Pastor P. J. Landis officiating. Burial will follow in the Moreland Cemetery in Scherr, WV.
