Cheryl L. (Courtney) Payne

Cheryl Lynn (Courtney) Payne, age 59 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 at her residence after a long illness.

Cheryl was born on January 11, 1965 in Richmond, Virginia and was a daughter of the  late Avis Gwendell Courtney and Evelyn Virginia (Thorne) Courtney. In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by one sister Glenna Ferguson; maternal grandparents, Evers and Carrie Thorne and paternal grandparents Avis David and Virginia Frances Courtney.

Cheryl is survived by her fiancé Jamie O. Berg of Petersburg, WV; two brothers, Derwin Courtney and wife Linda of Richmond, Virginia and Michael Courtney and wife Jeanne of   Mims, Florida and several aunts and uncles including Nancy Swick and Shelby Stump and six nieces and two nephews also survive.

Cheryl worked in Henrico County in Richmond, VA and more recently was a secretary for the Prosecuting Attorney Office in Petersburg, WV.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM, November 23, 2024 at Harmony Baptist Church, 713 Country Road, Maysville, WV 26833 with Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating.
