Charles Adam “Chuck” Fisher, age 79 of Maysville, WV went to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV.
Chuck was born on July 22, 1946 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Jesse VanMeter Fisher and Helen (Haynes) Fisher. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert L. Whitmer.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joanne (Zirk) Fisher, one son, Christian Adam Fisher of Morgantown, WV and one daughter, Carla Jo Fisher of Winchester, VA and one granddaughter, Makenna Elizabeth Hardy; two sisters Helen Fisher Whitmer of Indiana, PA, Jane Fisher of Petersburg, WV and one brother, Seymour “Bud” Fisher and wife Anna of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.
As a Petersburg High School graduate of 1964, Chuck played basketball and baseball with enthusiasm. He attended Shepherd College and WVU classes. His love of sports continued to be a priority. He hunted, fished, and was an accomplished gardener.
Chuck served proudly in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. Following his service, he was employed as a lab technician for VEPCO and later for Standard Laboratory, both at Mt. Storm, WV. Chuck worked for 12 years for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture collecting and testing water samples from the Eastern Panhandle.
Chuck was a member of the Maysville Bible Brethren Church and loved to talk to others about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Chuck’s family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 12 Noon till 2 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will begin at 2 pm with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating. Burial will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV with Military Honors by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and United States Army Honor Guard.
