Carl Kreyenbuhl Obituary

Carl Edward Kreyenbuhl, age 78, of Petersburg, WV died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at his home. He was born June 11, 1936 in Oakland, MD and was a son of the late Leo Silas Kreyenbuhl and Virginia (Trickett) Kreyenbuhl.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna (Maxwell) Kreyenbuhl on March 12, 2009; one daughter, Erica Kreyenbuhl; two brothers, Robert and James Kreyenbuhl; one sister, Barbara Jean (Kreyenbuhl) Brown.

Mr. Kreyenbuhl served in the United States Air Force in Germany and was a radar technician. He enjoyed playing soccer while in Germany.
Carl's interest in golf began as a caddy at Oakland Country Club in the 1940's and early 1950's. After being discharged from the Air Force in 1959, Carl knew his future would be in golf. His first job was at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, MD working as an assistant golf professional. He left Lakewood and assumed the responsibilities of golf professional and golf superintendent at Millcreek Golf Club in Burlington, WV.
In l968 Carl went to Moorefield, WV and helped build Valley View Golf Course and served as its golf professional and superintendent until 1972.
Later he moved to Canaan Valley Resort Park and served as the golf professional and superintendent until 1980 when he joined Paul Lemon in the Division of Parks and Recreation for the State of West Virginia to supervise and consult with the golf superintendents at the state park golf courses.
Carl moved to Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Spings, WV in 1982 to become the golf course Superintendent and received a lifetime achievement award before he retired in 1998.

Mr. Kreyenhbuhl is survived by two daughters, Constance Kreyenbuhl (Eric) Chaskes of Germantown, MD and Ginger Kreyenbuhl (Douglas) Shiring of Buffalo, NY; three grandchildren, Matthew Shiring, Kyle Shiring and Sophia Chaskes; two sisters, Mary Lynn Bean of Romney, WV and Christine (Howard) Johnson of Oakland, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday 7 - 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Friday (March 20, 2015) at 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Father Giles LeVasseur and Rev. Rich Cardot officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
