Blake Andrew Vetter, age 13, of Petersburg, WV went to Grace Heaven with his presence on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Blake was born January 23, 2008 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of John Michael Vetter, Jr. and Miranda Sue (Delaney) Vetter of Petersburg, WV.
In addition to his parents, Blake is survived by two brothers, Braden A. Myers and Cody Vetter both of Petersburg, WV; one sister, Kaitlyn Vetter of Petersburg, WV; Paternal Grandparents, John and Donna Vetter of Petersburg, WV; Maternal Grandmother, Sue Delaney of Moorefield, WV and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many other close family members.
Blake was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John A. Delaney; Paternal Great Grandparents, Paul and Polly Iman.
Blake was an Eighth Grader at Petersburg High School.
Blake was diagnosed on October 30, 2015 with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, he was granted remission in February of 2016. In March of 2016, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, he underwent 5 brain surgeries. Also in March of 2016, he was diagnosed with a rare syndrome called Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency Syndrome, which produces tumors. He was in remission until January of 2021 when he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (which can lead to leukemia in the bone marrow). His platelets started to drastically drop to the point that physicians were unable to keep up with it. This led to internal bleeding.
Blake fought a hard fight but not once complained. He had more faith in his Savior than to worry about himself. He was extremely grateful for his team of doctors and nurses at WVU Children’s Hospital and his Father in Heaven for his 13 years on earth.
Family will receive friends Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 5 – 8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating. Interment in North Mill Creek Cemetery.
