Billie Jean (Turner) Brown

Billie Jean (Turner) Brown, age 72, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Billie was born on January 22, 1951 in Elkins, WV and was a daughter of the late  Willis Lacey Turner and Iva Jean (Starkey) Turner. 

In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her daughter, Jami Nicole (Brown) Kile and father of her children, David William Brown. 

Surviving her sister, Lisa A. Turner of Bayard, WV, her brother, Steven R. Turner and wife Charlotte  of Middleborne, WV; her son, Ryan A. Brown of Charleston, WV; son-in-law, Josh Kile of Maysville, WV; three grandchildren, Taylor Kile, Shaylee Kile and McKeyin Kile; and the handsome great grandson, Tanson Wood Allamong.

Billie graduated from Union High School in 1968.  After graduating from Fairmont State College she became an educator, tutor, mentor and friend of hundreds of students, parents and Grant County School Staff.

Later in life, Billie obtained a Master’s degree which inspired those close to her that it is never too late to learn and achieve life- long goals.  She was an avid reader, a good story teller, quick with a joke, and a wonderful grandmother.  As a teacher, she made sure to take extra time with those students that she believed had unlocked potential.  She often put the needs of her children, grandchildren, students, friends, family, and neighbors before her own.  She will be missed by the thousands of lives she touched during her lifetime. 

Billie also wanted to give special thanks to her sister Lisa, friend Joyce Hayes, Grant Memorial Hospital Nursing Staff and local Ambulance members who assisted her in her times of need.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating. 

Billie’s family will receive friends from 11 a.m. till time of service.

 Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.
