Betty L. (Cussins) Stalnaker

Betty Lou (Cussins) Stalnaker, age 85, of Moorefield, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, July 17th, 2025 at Hampshire Health Center in Romney, W.Va.

Betty was born on December 17, 1939 in Tucker County W.Va. and was a daughter of the late Ralph James Cussins and Kathryn Louise (Lansbury) Cussins.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Gary B. Stalnaker in 2021; one infant daughter, Rhonda Kay Stalnaker and one great-grandson Ernest William Berg; and three brothers, Charles Cussins, John Cussins, and Don Cussins.

Betty retired from Hester/ConAgra after 24 years of service and before that, she worked at the HP Store. She was an avid reader, proud mother and grandmother, and devout Christian.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Pamela Stalnaker (Jay Carr) of Moorefield, W.Va.; one former son-in-law, James L. Parsons; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Lester, Jr.) VanMeter, Pamela (Barry) Haynes, Danielle Carr, Georgia Carr, Logan Swick, Joshua Parsons, and Jamie Parsons; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Haynes and Waylon McDonald, and three great-granddogs, Gidget, Wanda, and Hooch. Also, surviving are three brothers, Jim (Sue) Cussins, Roger (Marianne) Cussins, and David (Paula) Cussins.

Arrangements are being handled by Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va.

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated and a Memorial service will be on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Brighton Park (New Pavilion) Moorefield, WV to celebrate the lives of both Betty and Gary Stalnaker.

Memorials may be donated in her memory to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
