Betty Jean (Borror) Kesner, age 85, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Betty was born on May 20, 1940 in Brandywine, WV and was a daughter of the late Rumsey Raymond Borror and Mary Ellen (Keplinger) Borror Stonestreet.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond “Bing” Harold and her second husband Emmitt Doyal Kesner; three sisters, Wanda Stump Kesner, Juanita Mullenax, and Alma Kimble Williams and two brothers, infant Junior Wayne Borror and Rick Stonestreet; and two sons-in-law, Linwood C. Ours and Joseph Edward Vance.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Karen Sue (Harold) Ours of Petersburg, WV and Lisa Faye (Kesner) Vance of Petersburg, WV and one son, Timmy D. Kesner and wife Marcee of Maysville, WV; two step daughters, Betty Miller and husband Allen of Keyser, WV and Joyce Whitworth and husband Dick of TN; seven grandchildren and six step grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Warren Paul Borror and wife Freda of Petersburg, WV and one sister, Sandy Riggleman and husband Olen “Slick” of Moorefield, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Betty attended Edgewood Elementary School and Petersburg High School and later received her GED. She was a waitress, babysitter and caregiver for several years.
She worked at various sewing factories and was an EMT with the Grant County Ambulance and retired from Grant Memorial Hospital as a Lab Technician.
Betty was a member of SBV Monday night bowling league for several years and was a member of St. Johns Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She also was a member of Landes Ruritan Club.
Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends camping, playing cards and playing Bingo, going to the beach and traveling especially with her special friend Corena. She traveled to Florida, Hawaii and Aruba, but the most memorable trip was to Rome, Italy.
Betty’s family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Eddie Mullenax officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract, WV.
