Betty M. (Spicer) Hughes

Betty May Hughes, age 90, of Petersburg, WV died Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV.

Betty was born December 13, 1931 in Fairfax, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Walter Spicer and Margaret Blanche (Jennell) Spicer.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one daughter Diana Sanderson Power; two granddaughters Ann Marie Borowski and Brandi Jo Miller; one brother Woodrow.

Betty worked for the American Red Cross and retired.  She was a member of Grove Street United Methodist Church and was active in community affairs until her illness.

Betty is survived by her husband, James J. Hughes

 Four daughters – Patty (Franklin), Susan, Cheryl (Jason) and Tracy 

One step-daughter, Elaine Hughes of Sarasota, Florida 

  Nine grandchildren and  eighteen great grandchildren and one due in January 2023 and six great-great grandchildren with one due in December 2022.

Three step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

In Honoring Betty’s wishes, her body will be cremated and there will be no services.
