Arletta Susan (Kesner) Sears, age 94 of Petersburg, WV went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at her home.
Arletta was born on October 26, 1926 on Kesner Mountain, WV and was a daughter of the late John William Kesner and Mary (Smith) Kesner.
In addition to her parents, Arletta was preceded in death by her husband, William Ellis “Snook” Sears on June 8, 2003; one son, William Ellis “Snookie” Sears, Jr. and an infant daughter, Darlene Sue Sears; two sisters, Blanche Kesner Harman and Evelyn Kesner Cornell; one brother, Stanley William Kesner; one niece, Patsy Casto.
Arletta is survived by one brother, Roy “Jake” Kesner of Hopwood, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Although Arletta held Snook and her own children close to her heart, “Sissy” left behind her special family that was truly blessed by her life, Marlin Casto, Donna and Leonard Mallow and her 3 special angels, Tara Harper and husband Charles Harper, Seara and Trina Mallow.
Arletta was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1945. After graduation she started her employment with the FBI in Washington, DC. In later years, Arletta was employed by O.S. Kimble Firestone Store in Petersburg. She was a nurse’s assistant in the Special Care Unit at Grant Memorial Hospital and retired after 26 years.
Arletta was a member and elder of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church and also an active member of the Presbyterian Women's Circle. Arletta was recognized as a Valiant Woman by the Church Women United in 2017. She was a member of CEOS and was in the Town and Country Club of CEOS Community Educational Outreach Service. Arletta was a generous donor of the American Red Cross, giving nearly 27 gallons of blood.
Family will receive friends Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Dr. Bruce Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Arletta in a special way, may make donations to the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, 20 North Main Street, Petersburg, WV.
