Alonzo Ours Jr., age 91, of Warrenton, Virginia, passed away Friday, November 28th, at his home surrounded by his family.
Alonzo was born at his family home in Cabins, West Virginia on December 29, 1933 and was the son of the late Alonzo Ours Sr. and Doris Watts Ours.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Beulah Crites, Emmalee Ours, Teddy Ours, and Richard Ours.
Alonzo graduated from Petersburg High School in 1953. After graduation, he began his career as a carpenter in the Northern Virginia area. Through perseverance, grit, and an unmatched work ethic, he built a successful roofing company that has proudly served customers for over 50 years. His dedication to his workmanship and providing for his family became the foundation of his life’s work.
Alonzo is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Ours, and his four children:
• Crystal Ours of Manassas, Virginia
• Alonna Musselman and her husband Jerry Musselman of Stafford, Virginia
• Wesley Ours and his wife Stacy Ours of Manassas, Virginia
• John Ours and his wife Natalie Ours of Warrenton, Virginia
He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jeremy Musselman, Dion Evans, Rhiannon Lawson, Dane Ours, Jason Musselman, Wyatt Ours, Khloe Ours, Gavin Ours, Brinlee Ours, and Camden Ours, and four great-grandchildren: Owen Evans, Zoe Evans, Vivienne Lawson, and Vera Lawson.
Alonzo is further survived by eight siblings: Darlene Casto and her husband Jim Casto; Neil Ours and his wife Marlene; Naomi Pennington and her husband Dick; Erma Koontz; Sharron Kimble; Danie Ours; Mickey Ours; and Phyllis Dolly.
Funeral services will be held at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Vivan Watts and Phyllis Dolly officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bergdoll Family Cemetery in Rough Run, WV.
