Lucy Calhoun Obituary
Lucy Mae (VanMeter) Calhoun, age 77, of Upper Tract, WV died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.
She was born August 17, 1939 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Garfield L. VanMeter and Elizabeth Virginia (Mongold) VanMeter.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Otha L."Pete" Calhoun on February 13, 2011; one daughter, Nanette Calhoun on August 28, 2016; six sisters, Betty J. Cook Whetzel; infant Virginia Lee Cook, Catherine L. VanMeter Phares, Bonnie Kaye VanMeter Baldwin, Sharon Jean VanMeter Crites and Karen June VanMeter Whetzel.
Lucy is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Calhoun and wife Pam of Upper Tract, WV; Derrick Calhoun and fiancé, Susan of Timberville, VA; one granddaughter, Nicole "Nikki" Calhoun Haggerty and husband Derrick of Old Fields, WV; great grandson, Oliver Haggerty; two sisters, Elizabeth VanMeter Judy and husband Delmer of Petersburg, WV, Linda D. VanMeter Ritchie of Harrisonburg, VA, and several nieces and nephews and her cat, Boo.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Rita G. Beeman officiating. Interment will be in the Kline Cemetery, Kline, WV.
Memorial donations may be made to her great grandson, Oliver Haggerty, 105 Mountain Road, Old Fields, WV 26845.
