Jane Cresap Keller, age 91, of Petersburg, WV, passed from this life on March 14, 2017 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, WV.
Jane was born on July 9, 1925 in Alexandria, Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of the late Floyd H Keller and Kate Sheetz Poling Keller. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Keller Martin and Joanne Keller Chillemi. Jane was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by four special cousins, Thomas R Strawderman , Charleston, WV, George A Reid. Jr. (Nancy) , of Sarasota, FL, Mary Ann Reid, Madison, VA and James M K Reid, III (Patricia), of Dumfries, Virginia.
Jane graduated from high school in Alexandria, VA and was a graduate of Business School. She retired from the C & P Telephone Company and moved to Petersburg in 1976. She was appointed as Magistrate Assistant to Flora Jean Kisamore, Magistrate and later to Wanda H Harman, Magistrate. During her tenure in Magistrate Court she and Janet Frye became close; their friendship spanned some 41 years. Upon retirement from Grant County Magistrate Court, she became Office Manager for Gary A Michael. She and Gary had a very special relationship, their friendship continued until her death.
Jane's caregivers, Viola Champ, Mary Bergdoll, and Kathleen Perando became family to her; she loved them dearly as they did her.
Jane enjoyed Duke Basketball and watched the games on TV; she also enjoyed Professional Baseball and Golf. She loved classical music and was very knowledgeable about politics. Jane was an animal lover and took in many strays over the years.
Respecting Jane's request, there will be no viewing. There will a graveside service at the Indian Mound Cemetery in Romney, WV on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Doctor Roy Knight officiating.
Memorials may be made to Grant County Animal Shelter, Parks and Recreation, 5 Highland Avenue, Petersburg, WV.
