Gary Alt Obituary
Gary Douglas Alt, age 69, of Maysville, WV passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.
Gary was born August 1, 1948 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late Earl Edward Alt and Norma Jean (Puffenbarger) Alt Moog. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Alt and Jimmy Alt and his aunt who was his best friend, Mable Vance.
Gary worked several years at Monarch Mills on the south side of Petersburg. He was an avid outdoorsman. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with family and friends at the mountain cabin. In summer he enjoyed taking care of his lawn and helping neighbors in need.
Gary is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bonnie (Thorne) Alt; his son, Garrett Alt of Maysville, WV; his brother, Alfred Jacob Moog and wife Marion of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Brenda Alt and Sharon Sites both of Petersburg, WV; two step sisters, Linda Koontz of Petersburg and Sandra David of Baltimore, MD; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Alt of Arthur, WV and Norma Alt of Moorefield, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 5 -8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark McAllister officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract, WV.
