Donald F. Schinzing

Donald Frank Schinzing, age 69, of 35209 Cathedral Drive, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48312 and formerly of Petersburg, WV passed away on October 16, 2017 while on vacation at his sister's home in Wentzville, MO.
Donald is preceded by his parents the Rev. Albert Schinzing and Ruth (Hovdenes) Schinzing; and two brothers Dwayne Schinzing and Daniel Schinzing.

Don was born in Sioux Falls, SD on August 13,1948. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1966. He worked in the Steel Industry for several years and then started his own home inspection business, until he had to retire for health reasons. He enjoyed Genealogy researching, and was very involved in Sterling Heights Politics and community service for his 41 years living in the City of Sterling Heights.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ruthann (Ludwig) Schinzing , whom he married in Rochester, MI on Sept. 27, 1969. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Shannon (Kevin) Berger of Ortonville, MI. and his son Todd (Colleen Herhuth) Schinzing of Orion Twp, MI. and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Doug (Carly) of Nebraska and David (Dorthea) of Florida; and two sisters, Debra (Dennis) Power of MO and Diane Myers of MO.

There will be a celebration of his life at the Sterling Heights Public Library on November 4, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. At his request, in lieu of flowers, donate to his favorite place, Sterling Heights Public Library, 40255 Dodge Park Rd., Sterling Heights, MI 48312. Inurnment will be private in the Clinton Grove Cemetery in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
