Arthur Goldizen Obituary
Arthur Aaron Goldizen, age 93, of Petersburg, WV and formerly of Cabins, WV passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV.
He was born July 29, 1924 in Maysville, WV and was a son of the late Aaron Christian Goldizen and Lura Irene (Barger) Goldizen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Roberta (Sites) Goldizen on January 3, 2007; four sisters, Goldie Heavener, Rhoda Warner, Rose Feaster and Lucy Barger; and two brothers, Arlie J. "Mike" Goldizen and Robert B. "Chuck" Goldizen. Mr. Goldizen was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Arthur began working in the Goldizen family logging business. He later worked for the former Roby Ford Motor Company and Pepsi Cola Company in Petersburg. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member and had served as Trustee for the Corner United Methodist Church at Cabins, WV.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Glascock of Fredericksburg, VA., Nancy (David) Hansbrough of Harrisonburg, VA and Sharon (Butch) Porter of Longs, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Alicia (John) Weeks, Tony (Cathy) DeMedici, Jeremy (Brianna) Glascock, Robin (Don) Slate, Deanna Hansbrough, Armanda (Eric) Clymer, Angela Shani (Eugene) Lester and Andrea Shari (Justin) Spradley; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday 10 a.m. July 28, 2018 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Gerstell and Rev. Larry Hakes officiating. Burial will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Corner United Methodist Church, c/o Bernice Kesner, 2108 Haslacker Road, Maysville, WV 26833 or Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center, 127 Early Avenue, Petersburg, WV 26847 or Charity of Choice.
