Vivian Chadock Obituary

 

     Mrs. Vivian June Goff Chadock passed away at the Paliative Care Unit of Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA on October 14, 2018.   Vivian had been fighting a long illness with her loving husband of 62 years by her side.  She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. 

     Vivian was born in Hazel Green, WV on June 26, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Adron Lowell and Florence Opal Perkins Goff.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Mother and Father-in-Law Martin and Laura Chadock; son-in-law, Douglas Nesselrodt and two Brother-in-laws and one Sister-in-law.   

      Vivian graduated from Harrisville High School in 1956 where she met the love of her life in Civics class.  She was a member of the cheer leading squad and was a majorette with the marching band.  Vivian was also the pianist for the very popular Star Lighters Dance Band. 

      As a homemaker, she lovingly took care of her husband and children and their home.  Vivian was well known as a good cook and she enjoyed cooking for FFA judging team members after their practices.  She and Gerald have been faithful members of the Grove Street United Methodist Church for 60 + years.  Vivian has served on several committees and shared her talent with the congregation as a pianist with the choir for 30 + years.

     On February 20, 1956 in Oakland, Maryland she married Gerald Ray Chadock, who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters; Christiana Rae Simmons and husband, David of Brandywine, WV and Tambyra Joy Humphreys and husband, Alvy of Franklin, WV.  Five Grandchildren; Matthew Douglas Nesselrodt and wife, Tonya. Cassandra Ann Chisler and husband, Eric.  Kenneth Martin Nesselrodt and girlfriend, Vanessa. Rebecca June Heavner and husband, Ben. Katrina Diane Hott and husband, Adam.  Five Great Grandchildren; Wyatt Hott, Eve Hott, Tori Heavner, Maddie Nesselrodt, Evan Chisler. Two Step Grandchildren; Tonia Simmons Hedrick and husband, Matt.  Trisha Leann Knicely and husband, Dennis.  Six Step Great Grandchildren; Connor Hedrick, Corinne Hedrick, Carrigan Hedrick, Jenna Anderson, Kiley Chisler, Michaela Chisler. One brother; Lowell Ellsworth Goff and wife Janet of Harrisville, WV;   Sister-in Laws, Maxine Henderson of Petersburg, WV and Rosalee Hargans of Chicago, IL.

     Friends will be received from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  A funeral service will begin at 11 AM on Thursday in the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Hakes officiating.  Burial will be in Lahmansville Cemetery in Lahmansville, WV.
