Twila Maxine “Babe” Hogbin, age 96, of Petersburg, WV passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at Piney Valley Rehabilitation Care Center in Keyser, WV.
She was born July 22, 1922 in Maysville, WV and was the daughter of the late Otha Allen Davis and Lula Edith (Veach) Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. Hogbin Sr. in 1990; one son, Gary L. Hogbin; two grandsons, Mitchell D. Earle and Chrisopher Hogbin; step granddaughter, Kelly Bennett and one brother, Gerald Davis.
Mrs. Hogbin is survived by one son, Carl D. Hogbin Jr. and wife Wilda of Petersburg, WV; two daughters, Darlene K. (Hogbin) Pallavicini and husband Bill of Petersburg, WV and Bonnie G. Hogbin of Petersburg, WV; ten grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hogbin attended Oak Hill School, a one room school in Maysville which included grades 1 through 8. In fact Twila was the last surviving member of her class. Twila also attended Petersburg High School. She and her husband Carl operated several businesses in Petersburg including the Hilltopper, City Restaurant, National Lunch, Babe’s Café and 4-Lane Bowling Alley. She was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church. She was an avid outdoorsman. She loved working in her garden and yard.
Family will receive friends Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 10 till 11 AM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM with the Rev. Ann W. Harrison officiating. Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery.
