Robert E. Ellison

Robert Eugene Ellison, age 85, of Petersburg, WV died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VA.

Bob was born November 29, 1933 in Mercer County, WV and was a son of the late Robert and Lora Lee (Fink) Ellison. 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella J. (Cudnik) Ellison in 2003 and two sisters, Bernice “Jackie” McCoy and June Cornett. 

Bob is survived by his daughter, Dawn M. (Chad) Ellison and granddaughter, Sophie of Petersburg, WV; Bob’s Companion for 16 years, Norma J. Bible; two sisters, Kathryn Bell of Beckley, WV and Janet Coyne of Ocala, FL.

Bob was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was recipient of  the Bronze Star. He retired from General Motors in 1984.  He and his wife moved to Ocean City, MD where they operated a restaurant and later moved to West Virginia in 1990.  They operated the Galley Restaurant in Petersburg until 2003.

He was a life member of the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 and was Honorary Commander for life of American Legion Post 78 in Petersburg. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

All services will be private.
