Mary W. (Walters) Martin

Mary W. Martin, age 89, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center.

She was born October 10, 1929 in Glenville, WV and was the daughter of the late Jack and Stella (Ridgeway) Walters.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ned Martin in 2013; a brother, Jack Walters Jr; a sister, Margaret Walters; a stepbrother, George Walters; and a stepsister, Jenny Brown.

She is survived by three sons, Tom Martin (Debbie) of Capon Bridge, WV; Ben Martin of Petersburg, WV; and Bill Martin of Ranson, WV;  one grandson, Gus (Cora) of Winchester, VA.

Mrs. Martin graduated from Glenville High School in 1947.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Glenville State College in 1951.  She taught school for many years in several different school districts, finally retiring from the Grant County Public School System.  She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg, WV.

It was her request to be cremated with ashes interred at Stalnaker Cemetery in Glenville, WV.  A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 3:00  PM at the Main Street United Methodist Church in  Petersburg, WV with the Rev. Nathan Epling officiating.   Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
