Marian Elizabeth (Hanlin) Amtower, age 87, of Mount Storm, WV passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD.
Mrs. Amtower was born June 8, 1932 in Mount Storm, WV and was a daughter of the late Brophy Willis Hanlin and Stella Belle (Berg) Hanlin. In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd “Dick” Amtower in 1975; three sisters, Verda Mayles, Juanita Hiser and Dora Parrish; brother-in-law, Lyle Mayles; sister-in-law, Joan Hanlin; son-in-law, Alan H. Shirley.

David E. Amtower and wife Rebecca of Mt. Storm, WV
Jody D. Amtower and wife Pamela of Mt. Storm, WV
Robert B. Amtower and wife Brenda of Mt. Storm, WV
Eight grandchildren and Seven great grandchildren
One brother -
Eugene W. Hanlin of Keyser, WV
Several nieces and nephews.
Marian graduated from Bayard High School Class of 1950. She was a nurse’s aide at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg and was a dental assistant at Mountaintop Medical Center until her retirement. She was a former member of the Mt. Storm Fireman’s Auxiliary. She was Secretary of the Grant County Ambulance Authority for two years and was an EMT for Mt. Storm Rescue Squad for over 20 years. Marian was a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. Marian was a loving Mother and dedicated to her community.
Family will receive friends Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Additional viewing will be Sunday at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren on Bismarck Road, Mt. Storm, WV from 12 Noon till 2:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM at the church with the Rev. John Walker, Rev. Lynn Durbin and Pastor James “Sonny” Dodds officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Storm Cemetery.
