Manie Evans Obituary

 

Manie Lillian (Gabbard) Evans, age 87, of Maysville, WV passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at her home.  She was born June 25, 1931 in Scaffold Cane, Kentucky and was a daughter of the late Noah Bradley Gabbard and Nannie Jane (Swinford) Gabbard.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on November 24, 2010 by her husband, Leonard H. (Shider) Evans, whom she married on September 3, 1949; also preceded by five sisters, Mildred Cotton, Evelyn Rhodus, Norma Lower, Juanita Bailey and Lyda Hannah; one brother, Clifford Gabbard. 

Mrs. Evans and her husband moved to Goshen, Indiana in 1952 and worked with her husband in their egg houses.  She and her family moved back to Jordan Run, West Virginia in 1986.  She was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church in Maysville, WV. 

Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughter, Bernita and husband Stoney Berg of Maysville, WV; three grandchildren, William (Nancy) Berg, Wade Berg and Janelle Berg; two great grandchildren, Harrison and Harper Berg; three sisters, Margaret (Harry) Weaver of Goshen, Indiana, Betty (Craig) Riffle of Goshen, Indiana and Etta Faye (Jay) Hacker of Park Hills, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Rexrode officiating.  Burial will be in the Evans Family Cemetery on Jordan Run Road, Maysville, WV.
