John A. Ellis, Jr.

            John Andrew Ellis, Jr. age 75, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Ruby Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.  He was born May 13, 1943 in Philadelphia , PA  and was the son of the late John A. Ellis, Sr. and Mary E. (Brown) Ellis.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Andria Ellis.

            John graduated from Susquehanna High School and entered the United States Air Force and served in Viet Nam. He was retired from the United States Navy DePot in Mechanicsburg, PA. 

           John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wanda (Borror) Ellis; two sisters, Joan C. Durley of Illinois and Evelyn R. Branyan and husband Jack Sr. of Lincoln University, PA and one brother, James A. Ellis and numerous nieces and nephews.   

       Friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry  Hakes officiating.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV with military rites by the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454.   Memorial contributions may be made to Grove Street United Methodist Church, 11 North Grove Street, Petersburg, WV 26847 or charity of the donor’s choice.
