Gladys G. (Mongold) Vance

Gladys Genevieve (Mongold) Vance, age 92, of Petersburg, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Grant Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. 

Gladys was born on January 23, 1927 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late David Guy Mongold and Lena (Judy) Mongold.  In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Glen “Hart” Vance Sr. on February 16, 2012; son-in-law, Gerry Bosley and several half brothers and sisters.

Gladys is survived by two sons, Donald Vance of Upper Marlboro, MD and Glenn H. Vance Jr. and wife Phyllis of Petersburg, WV; one daughter, Patricia Bosley of Maysville, WV; step daughter, Edith Jean Runion of Maysville, WV; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

Gladys was an active member of Sites Chapel United Methodist Church.  She loved her Lord and church and  family.  She enjoyed crocheting, bowling and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Farm Women’s Club.  In recent years, her faithful companion was her cat Buttercup.

Family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. 

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11 AM at Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Epling and the Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating.  Burial will follow in Sites Cemetery on Elkhorn Road, Dorcas, WV.
