Ellis J. Bartley

Ellis Jerrel "Jerry" Bartley, age 92, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

Born September 6, 1925 in Mount Vernon, Arkansas and was a son of the late Jesse Rollins Bartley and Lucy Ann (Keathley) Bartley.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Ashenfelter) Bartley in 1979; three sisters, Anna Lee, Margaret and Helen; three brothers, Edgar, Eldon and Billy Bartley.

Jerry served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Local 152, Morgantown, WV. He was a member of The Church of Christ in Moorefield, WV.

Jerry is survived by his wife Emma Jo (Hartman) Bartley; three daughters, Margaret Ann Pownell and husband Don of Mechanicsburg, PA and Deborah Rae Landis and husband Boyd of Petersburg, WV, Terri Miller and husband John of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren, Shelley Mongold, Shannon Coombs, Jay Pownell, Beth Holden and Matt Dolly, Jared Miller of Chesapeake, VA and Katelyn Miller; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Keathley of Russellville, AR and two brothers, Jimmy Bartley and wife Donna of Mt. Vernon, AR and Dale Bartley and wife Barbara of Heber Springs, AR.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Minister Jonathan Leininger officiating. Burial will follow in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV with Military Rites by the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Church of Christ, 192 South Elm Street, Moorefield, WV 26836.
