Daniel W. Kuykendall, Sr. age 92 of Moorefield WV formerly of Alexandria, VA passed away on May 25, 2019 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.
He was born in Petersburg, WV; son of the late Oscar and Radie (Alt) Kuykendall. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, June and infant David Kuykendall; and two sisters, Josephine Williams and infant Mary Kuykendall.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lucille (Via) Kuykendall, one son, Daniel W. Kuykendall, Jr. (wife Elizabeth) of Petersburg, WV and children, Lucretia Marie Kumah (husband Eric Jr.), Daniel W. Kuykendall, III (wife Courtney), one daughter, Kathy Lubin (husband Michael) of Richmond, VA, and Lindsey Lubin; five great-grandchildren, Eric Kumah III, Marcus Kumah, Alyssa Kumah, Daniel W. Kuykendall IV and Hunter Kuykendall; one brother Gene Kuykendall of Kenova, WV and one sister Esther Hipp of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel graduated from Petersburg High School and served in the United States Air Force from September 1948 to June 1950. Then, he attended Barber School and moved to Alexandria VA where he owned and operated several barber shops. In 1966 he became a realtor. In 2002, he returned to The Kuykendall Farm in Moorefield, WV where he continued working as a realtor. He was a member of both the Alexandria Sertoma Club and the American Legion Post 78 of Petersburg, WV.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church (109 South Main Street, Moorefield, WV 26836) with Pastor Jim Yao officiating. Inurnment will be private at the Lahmansville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
