Clay V. Thorne

Clay Vincent Thorne, age 52, of Petersburg, WV passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at his home.  He was born June 9, 1966 in Arlington, VA and was a son of Edward T. Thorne and Melba J. (Hill) Thorne of Petersburg, WV. 

Clay is survived by his parents, Eddie and Melba Thorne; two sons, Jaden Prentice Thorne of Pembroke, VA and Brett Eric Hartman of Petersburg, WV; one daughter, Sydney Taylor Thorne of Pembroke, VA; one sister, Darby J. Weese of Petersburg, WV; twin brothers, Aaron T. Thorne of Cadiz, KY and Bryant E. Thorne of Dayton, Ohio; one niece, Blair Weese and one nephew, Brody Weese and his dogs, Chubs and Bear. 

Clay was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1984.  He worked with Gerald Chadock and won the Welding Award in Vocational School.  He continued his career in welding in several states and Puerto Rico.  He was among the first to help build the Green Bank Satellite. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes. 

A Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
